Network Technician L2

The primary duties of this individual as Network Technician L2 will be responsibility for technical support of Secant’s customer operations through the implementing, maintaining, supporting, provisioning, and improving of Secant’s hosted and managed network solutions. Interface with other technical support staff as well as project management, sales staff, engineering staff, other staff and clients on products and services. Specific to this role is primary responsibility for the deployment and carrier troubleshooting of managed WAN circuits and devices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Continuous/Daily Responsibilities:

– Create and update KB (knowledge base), Wiki, and troubleshooting standard articles for use by others
– Create, update, and audit site documentation information for hosted/managed networks (network diagrams)
– Create, update, and maintain troubleshooting documentation for support, mentor and train as necessary

Periodic / Scheduled Responsibilities:

– Develop technical project plans and migration plans for managed network clients
– Onboard hosted/managed services clients (managed network, managed/hosted devices)
– Onsite and remote implementation and troubleshooting of customer networks
– Participate in periodic internal and external audits of services and networks
– Evaluate new hosted services solutions (hardware/software/systems) in order to develop new Secant services
– Development and ongoing support for change management controls for managed/hosted environments

Troubleshooting Responsibilities:

– Primary responsibility for managed network equipment-related tickets
– Primary responsibility for managed circuit-related tickets

After Hours Responsibilities:

– Perform critical updates to equipment during maintenance window – base job duty
– On call / participate in rotation for escalated tickets or alert response

KEY MEASURES OF SUCCESS:

– Measurable, continuous uptime of all hosted networks and managed network equipment under our control
– Timely execution of all communication tasks (client/PM/team, ticket updates, documentation, etc)
– Continued development of hosted/managed services
– Timely patching, upgrades, and maintenance of hosted/managed network equipment and CPE

REQUIREMENTS:

– 2 years+ experience troubleshooting and implementing Cisco, Meraki and other networking systems
– Admin-level Cisco or other vendor certification (or working toward)
– Admin-level networking skills with Cisco, Meraki and related networking vendors
– Must have excellent verbal, written, and very strong listening skills.
– Must desire to document and improve workflow, project plans, technical procedures, and Secant standards
– Collaboration and multitasking are key to this role, with simultaneous project and support tasks
