Secant has helped our district in so many ways. We were a district that had been struggling through trying to teach ourselves. Now with Secant's support, we are actually starting to learn and use Powerschool the way it was intended. They are timely with regards to getting in touch with you when you have any type of issue. The teaching aspect of the techniques that they use are remarkable. It is much more of a safety net then Powerschool support has even been to us.

I have been using Secant for PowerSchool support for the last 18 months, and it has been a tremendous help to me over that period of time. Besides the fact that I am not on hold for upwards of 30-40 minutes before receiving a response from Pearson Support, I get a much more personal response from Secant. They have worked directly with me and my school setup; therefore, it is not a generic response but an answer that goes directly to the problem I am facing within MY program. I have also been involved in a new process they are implementing for both troubleshooting and giving in-service on particular aspects of PowerSchool. This process of Net Meeting will greatly enhance both of these aspects far and above anything that Pearson has or plans to offer for support/training.

Here is my recommendation for support and training: Contact Matt Betts at Secant and discuss that you are doing a consortium. His company does support and training for PowerSchool. I would suggest to spend your support money with this company as opposed to PowerSchool for the first couple of years – they have GREAT SUPPORT (Secant has been able to answer 95% of our questions) in a timely and wonderful manner – Secant offers targeted training from instructors that have actually worked with the software in a school setting. Combine that with Michigan user group training (very reasonable cost – sometimes free) and you end up with a great support plan.

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Phil. I just started in the position at Calhoun Community High School in October and could not have done without him. I have had many issues with Powerschool, and each time he has responded quickly and was able to help right away. Last week I left early for vacation and was unable to store my grades. Phil called me back while I was on vacation. We were able to fix the problem and email my grades to the school. It is such a relief to have someone like him that we as secretaries can rely on. I just thought you should know how much Phil is appreciated and great he is at his job.
